Pauline Helton, 83, of Scottsburg, Indiana, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at Hampton Oaks Health Campus in Scottsburg, Indiana.  She was born on December 28, 1926 in Austin, Indiana, the daughter of the late Alfred and Bertha (Nicholas) Cathcart.    She was married June 5, 1945 to Forrest E. Helton, who preceded her in death on June 7, 2007.  Pauline was a retired cook for Scott County School DIstrict # 2 in Scottsburg, Indiana  and a member of Zoah Christian Church.   Survivors include four sons, James E. Helton of Redmond, Washington, Robert E. Helton of Richmond, Virginia, Frank E. Helton and Steven E. Helton both of Scottsburg, Indiana;  a sister, Evelyn Darin of Austin, Indiana; a brother, Al Cathcart of Fayetteville, Arizona, 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by a twin brother, Paul Cathcart.  Graveside Service: 2:00 pm on Friday at Zoah Cemetery.  Visitation: 12:30 to 1:30 PM Friday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.

Larry W. Robbins, 64, of Underwood, Indiana died on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at University Of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.  He was born on October 22, 1945 in Seymour, Indiana, the son of the late Kenneth B.  and Edith L. (Dean)  Denney.  Larry was a retired engine tester at Cummins Engine Company at the Columbus & Seymour Plants for 38 years retiring in 2002 and a member of the New Chapel United Methodist Church in Underwood, Indiana.  Survivors include his wife, Betty J. (Brown)  Robbins; a daughter, Cheryl L. Robbins of Scottsburg, Indiana; three sons, Denney W. (Melanie), Jeffrey L. (Sherry) and Jamie J. (Lisa Marie) Robbins all of Underwood, Indiana;  four sisters, Patty Kimmick and Nancy Murphy both of Underwood, Indiana, Judy Hoskins of Scottsburg, Indiana and Norma West of The Villages, Florida;  three brothers, Ted Denney of Scottsburg, Indiana, Don Robbins of Seymour, Indiana and Paul Robbins of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, 13 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.  Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Friday at Fishermans Paradise Christian Church with burial in Clark's Chapel Cemetery. Pending: Nina Rae Keown, 26, of Lexington, Indiana, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 in Lexington, Indiana.  She was born on May 23, 1984 in Marrero, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Elmon Ray Keown Sr. and Debra K. (McNeeley) Conover who survives her.  She was a  ormer employee of Scott's Ace Hardware in Scottsburg, Indiana and a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her   son, Jalen A. Spicer of Scottsburg, Indiana;  a daughter, Bailey Rae Petty of Lexington, Indiana; mother & stepfather, Debbie & Johnnie Conover of Lexington, Indiana; a brother, Sgt. Mitchell E. (Samantha) Keown of Scottsburg, Indiana; a step brother, Keith Conover of Tampa, Florida; a step sister, Lorri Macilvaine of San Diego, California; two grandmothers, Frances E. Myrtle Blaylock, 80, of Scottsburg, Indiana, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana.  She was born on May 30, 1930 in Dizney, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Laura Jane (Robbins)  Thomas.  Myrtle was a former employee of the old Talon Company in Seymour, Indiana for 18 years and a member of the Pentecostal Faith.  Survivors include four sisters, Ada Napier, Macy Soloe and LaQuada Spivey all of Lexington, Indiana and Imogene Maddox of Scottsburg, Indiana; one brother: Arthur Thomas of Lexington, Indiana, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son, Roger D. Persinger; six brothers, Paul, Olin, Curtis, Arlie, Everitt and Shirley Thomas and a sister, Opalene Thomas.  Graveside Service: 2:00 pm on Thursday at Lexington Cemetery. Virginia Banbury, 92, of Scottsburg, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at Hampton Oaks Health Campus Assisted Living.  She was born on February 21, 1918 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of the late Leo and Ella (Been) Schisler. Virginia was a homemaker and served as a nurse at a U.S. Military Hospital in Pasadena, California during W.W. II.  She was a member of the Scottsburg United Methodist Church, the Widow's Tea Club, Scott County Humane Society, a veteran of the Women's Army Corps (WACS) in WW II, a graduate of Goodland High School in Goodland, Kansas and the Halstead Hospital School of Nursing in Halstead, Kansas.  Survivors include a daughter, Melanie (Erle) Foster of Scottsburg, Indiana; a granddaughter,  Shannon (Patrick) Howser of Scottsburg, Indiana and two great grandsons, Evan and Ryan Howser. She was preceded in death by her husband, Evans E. Banbury, a great granddaughter, Camryn Howser; a brother, Jamie Schisler and a sister, Leola Ihrig.  Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Thursday at Scottsburg United Methodist Church. Ruby Alene Taflinger, 92, of Lexington, Indiana, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at The Waters of Scottsburg.  She was born on June 28, 1918 in Lexington, Indiana, the daughter of the late Clarence R. and Della  (Bare) Lowry.  Ruby was a former employee of Morgan Foods in Austin, Indiana and also the old Charlestown Ammunition Plant and did private babysitting. She was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Indiana. Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Berry of Columbia, Kentucky; a sister, Anna Mae Taflinger of Indianapolis, Indiana, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Taflinger; three sisters: Mabel Renschler, Irene Hooker and Freida F. Hounshell; three brothers: Raymond, Ervin and Kenneth Lowry and one great grandson: Luke Berry.  Funeral Service: 1:00 pm on Friday at Lexington Presbyterian Church . Linda Jo Hall, 66, of North Vernon passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at her residence. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in North Vernon with the Rex. Jonathan Myers officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery in North Vernon, Indiana. Born December 19, 1943 in Vincennes, In, she was the daughter of the late Mitchell and Wilma Ashby Stassin. She married John G. Hall in January of 1964. She graduated from Indiana University-Magna Cum Laude. She was employed by Cummins Engine Company where she worked in Corporate Finance and was a Director of Investment Relations and retired in 1998 after 30 years. Linday was a member of the St Mary's Catholic Church and served on the St. Mary's Parish Council. She was a member of the United Way Board and the Wednesday Research Club. She enjoyed quilting, traveling and participating in public service. She is survived by her husband, John G. Hall of North Vernon, sister, Marlene S. (Doug) King-Tetrick; a nephew, Jeff Vance and a great-nephew, Mitchell Vance all of Hartsville, SC. Memorials may be made to through the Jennings County Community Foundation to the St. Mary's School Tuition Fund. Arrangements were made in care of Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home. Glenda M. Matcrn, 54, of North Vernon passed away Monday, August 23, 2010, at her residence at 2:11 a. m. Funeral will be held Friday at 11:00 a. m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home with Father Jonathan Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p. m. Thursday and 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday. A Rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be at the St. Anne's Cemetery. Born February 4, 1956, in Seymour, she was the daughter of James H. Cox and Edyth Cheesebrew Stillwell. He preceded her in death. Ms. Matern had been a factory worker and had worked for Lowe's Distribution for 16 years. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. She enjoyed outside activities, watching racing and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her mother, Edyth Stillwell of Seymour: her sons, Mike Natern and Paul Matern both of North Vernon: a sister, Jackie Hardey of Seymour; grandmother, Mary Cheesebrew of North Vernon; 7 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and daughter, Stacy Dawn Matern. Arrangements were made in care of Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Grandchildren's Education Fund. Raleigh Evin Culbertson, 79, of Scottsburg, Indiana, died Thursday, August 18 ,2010 at his residence.  He was born on June 7, 1931 in Benham, Kentucky, the son of the late Walker and Nora  (Roberts)  Culbertson.  Evin was a retired machine shop laborer for Navistar (the old International Harvester) in Ft. Wayne, IN & Springfield, Ohio and a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War.  Survivors include two   brothers, Nelson Culbertson of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Jack B. Culbertson of Centerville, Virginia;  two sisters, Trula Mount of Scottsburg, Indiana and Nita Hopkins of Lecanto, Florida and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by: two brothers, Frank & Jerry Culbertson and two sisters, Mildred E. Culbertson & Wilma Brinker.  Cremation was chosen with services to be private. Jacob Derek Yeager, 5 weeks of Scottsburg, Indiana, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana.  He was born on July 11, 2010 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Survivors include his parents, Derek Yeager & Tracey Donahue of Scottsburg, Indiana;   Grandparents: Ann & Hetch Muncy of Scottsburg, Indiana;  Great Grandparents Dale & Gatha Reece of Austin, Indiana;  three aunts, Pam (Brent) Comer, Sherry Jankosky and Katie Trueblood all of Scottsburg, Indiana;  Great Aunt, Tammy Duvall of Scottsburg, Indiana and several cousins.  Funeral Service: 1:00 pm on Friday at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery.  Visitation: after 11 am on Friday at Collins Funeral Home.

William B. Thomas, 62, of Deputy, Indiana, died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus, Indiana.  He was born on September 4, 1947 in Harlan, Kentucky, the son of the late Benjamin Thomas Sr. and Elizabeth  (Lovett)  Thomas.  Bill was a former employee of Morgan Foods and also the old Earl Lamb Saw Mill in Deputy, Indiana.  Survivors include three brothers, Lowell Thomas of Lexington, Indiana, Ervin Thomas of Deputy, Indiana and Carl  Thomas of Austin, Indiana; three sisters, Rose Jones, Coella and Patricia Thomas all of Deputy, Indiana and several nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford & Wade Thomas and a sister, Janie Wilhite.  Graveside Service: 2:00 pm on Wednesday at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison.

James E. Funk, 93, of Scottsburg, IN, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010 at University Of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.  He was born on February 22, 1917 in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James R. and Julia E. (Millward)  Funk.  Jim was the former President of the old Funk Lumber Company, Inc. in Scottsburg, Indiana, a retired farmer and a member of the Moose Family Center # 2324.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma  I. Funk on Aug. 21, 1992. Survivors include two sons, James M. (Mary Ellen) Funk and Robert (Virginia) Funk both of Scottsburg, Indiana; two daughters, Patricia A. Rose and Shirley Jean Howard both of Scottsburg, Indiana; a sister, Rebecca Heitlauf of Lake Okeechobee, Florida, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Nancy Catherine Satchwill, 81, of Scottsburg, Indiana, died Friday, August 6, 2010. She was born on August 13, 1928 in Trimble County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Henry Thomas and Retta  (Bolder)  Richmond.  She was a former employee of Tarmatic Tack Company in Madison, Indiana and a member of the Nazarene Church. Survivors include four sons, Lewis A. and his wife,Trish, who cared for her during her illness) and Robert K. Satchwill both of Scottsburg, Indiana, Steve L. Satchwill of
Vienna, Indiana and Michael N. Satchwill of Lexington, Indiana;  a sister, Virginia Burkhart of Milton, Kentucky, 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis  N. Thomas R. Asher, 77 of Austin, Indiana, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana.  He was born on April 26, 1933 in Bardstown, Kentucky, the son of the late Elmer and Willie Mae (Fields) Asher.  Tom was a retired plant operator for the North Vernon Water Company in North Vernon, Indiana for 12 years and a former employee of the old H. O. Canfield Company in Seymour, Indiana. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in North Vernon, Indiana and the Eagles Club in Seymour, Indiana. Survivors include a companion, Louise Rothbauer of Austin, Indiana;  a daughter, Cynthia Asher of Scottsburg, Indiana;   four sisters, Glenna Mae McCartin of Hudson, Florida, Florence Hall of Seymour, Indiana, Carol Barnes of Panama City, Florida and Bernice Asher of Goshen, Indiana  and a granddaughter, Laura Beth Redifer of Scottsburg, Indiana.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Sue Asher; two brothers: Joseph Andrew & Elmer Asher, Jr. and two sisters: Crenelia Coomes & Norma Johnson.  Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Saturday at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery.  Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Friday and after 9 am Saturday at Collins Funeral Home.

Delores Faye Bright Jaynes, 71, of Scottsburg, Indiana, died Tuesday on August 3, 2010, at the St. Clare Medical Center in Crawfordsville, Indiana. She was born on March 4, 1939 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the daughter of the late William D. and Gola Gladys (Cox) Bright. Delores was a homemaker, a former employee of the Giveway and Olan Mills Photography in Bowling Green, Kentucky and a member of the Scottsburg Wesleyan Church. Survivors include a son: Charles L. Jaynes, Jr. of Crawfordsville, Indiana; a daughter: Pamela D. (Samuel) Sizemore of Jeffersonville, Indiana; three brothers: Hatch, Jerry & Roger Bright all of Scottsburg, Indiana and two sisters: Jeanne Pruitt & Pat York both of Scottsburg, Indiana. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Elesha Sizemore and two great grandchildren: Peyton & Kaleb Collard. Delores was preceded in death by a son: Randall A. Jaynes; a grandson: Derek Sizemore; two brothers: Earl Wayne & Richard Donald Bright and a sister: Donna Darlene Bright. Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Friday at Scottsburg Wesleyan Church with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. Larry Dean Stout 62, of Crothersville, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 at his home. No services will be held. Born October 12, 1947, in Jackson County, he was the son of Ivan Boone and Pearl Louise Spall Stout. Mr. Stout had been a factory worker. He enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle. He is survived by his two daughters, Patty Newsome of Salem, Angie Morris of Seymour: two sons, Robert and Bradley Stout both of Seymour; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters; Elsie Bowman and Sarah Mae Monroe both of Crothersville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parent, a great grandchild, three brothers, Don, Billy Joe and Bud Stout and one sister, Shirley Stout. Memorials may be made to the family.
